Response to press speculation

The Board of Great Portland Estates plc notes recent press speculation regarding a potential equity issue.

Great Portland Estates is considering a range of options to provide additional resources to take advantage of opportunities arising from depressed values in the central London property market. Great Portland Estates currently has a comfortable debt position and a well let portfolio of central London properties with attractively low average office rents.

The final results for the year to 31 March 2009 will be released on 19 May 2009.
