                         GREENCORE GROUP APPOINTS NEW

                      CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO SUGAR DIVISION


Greencore Group plc announced today, (July 23rd 2001) the appointment of Dr.
Sean Brady as Chief Executive of its Sugar Division with effect from 1st
October 2001. Dr Brady replaces Tony Heaphy who is due to retire from the
position on 30th September 2001.

Dr Brady is currently Chief Executive of the Malt Division, and is responsible
for its business in Ireland, the UK and Belgium. Prior to joining the
Greencore Group, Sean was general manager of the dairy division of Lakeland
Dairies.

As Chief Executive of the Sugar Division, Dr Brady will report directly to
Tony Hynes, Chief Operating Officer of Greencore Group plc and be responsible
for the management and future strategic development of the division.
