On the 23rd April 2001, Greggs PLC ('the Company') was notified that Mr. Colin
Gregg (a non-executive director of the Company), on the 29th March 2001, sold
280 ordinary shares of 20p each (0.002% of the issued share capital) in the
Company at a price of £28.15 per share.

The Company was also notified that on the 29th March 2001, that Mr Colin Gregg's
wife, had also sold 280 shares of 20p each in the Company, at a price of £28.15
per share.

Mr Gregg now has a total beneficial interest comprising 86,384 shares (0.72% of
the issued share capital).
