BOARD APPOINTMENT
Greggs is the UK's leading retailer specialising in sandwiches, savouries and
other baker-fresh food on the go. It has over 1,350 retail outlets throughout
the UK, trading under the Greggs and Bakers Oven brands.
Roger Whiteside (49) will join the Board as an additional Non-Executive Director
with effect from 17 March 2008.
Roger Whiteside was Chief Executive of the Thresher Group off-licence chain from
2004-2007. Prior to this he was one of the founders of Ocado, the innovative
online grocer operating in partnership with Waitrose, and served as its Joint
Managing Director from 2000-2004. He began his career at Marks & Spencer, where
he spent 20 years, ultimately becoming head of its Food Business.
On appointment, Roger will become a member of the Company's Audit, Nominations
and Remuneration Committees.
Greggs Chairman Derek Netherton said: "I am delighted to welcome Roger Whiteside
to the Board, and am sure that we will benefit from his very extensive
experience of the food and retail industries."
Greggs plc confirms that it has been advised by Roger Whiteside that there is
nothing further to disclose in relation to Rule 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules.
