Greggs PLC ('the Company') has received notification that with effect from the 8
May 2000, the registration details for some funds currently managed by
Prudential plc have changed.  As a direct result, the names of the registered
holders, which comprise their notifiable interest would be as follows:

1,147,000 ordinary shares of 20p each held by PRUCLT HSBC GIS NOM (UK)PAC AC
(previously known as Prudential Client (MSS) Nominees Limited PAC A/C).

The Prudential plc stressed that there was no change to their notifiable
interest, merely a change in registration details.
