Dr J P  The Administrators of the SmithKline Beecham Mid-Term Incentive Plan
Garnier notified the Company and Dr Garnier on 23 April 2001 that he had
        increased his interest by 303.066 Ordinary Share ADRs at a price of
        $53.280 per share following the re-investment of the dividend paid to
        shareholders on the 17 April 2001.
