GlaxoSmithKline plc announces that, in accordance with the authority granted by
shareholders at the Annual General Meeting on 21 May 2001, it purchased for
cancellation 2,000,000 of its Ordinary shares on Monday, 18 March 2002 at a
price of 1669.9628p per share.
