Guild signs three new Fortnite pro-players
Guild Esports PLC (LSE: GILD; OTCQB: GULDF), a global gaming-focused media business, is pleased to announce the signing of three top-ranked professional players, 'Blacha', 'Chico' and 'PabloWingu' to its professional Fortnite roster.
Blacha, Chico and PabloWingu are widely regarded as industry ones to watch and have won over $185,000 combined in tournament prize pools in 2023. They will be competing under the Guild banner in European and international Fortnite tournaments.
Blacha, from Poland, has agreed a six-month contract with Guild, which the Company has the option to extend for a further nine-months. He joins Guild following an impressive professional season, having made strong performances across Fortnite Champion Series ("FNCS") events, which are widely considered Fortnite's most competitive tournaments. Blacha has additionally seen success in 'zero-build' tournaments, finishing 4th at DreamHack Open in Sweden in June 2023, and qualifying for the 'Gamers8' tournament in Saudi Arabia.
Chico, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, has initially signed to represent Guild in the FNCS finals. He has been among the best finishers in FNCS major tournaments this year, including 2nd place in FNCS in August, and goes into the Global Championships in excellent form after claiming 1st place in the 'Duos Cash Cup' in September 2023.
PabloWingu, from Denmark, has signed a one-year contract with Guild, which the Company has the option to extend for a further two years. He has performed at a consistently high level in 2023; PabloWingu was part of one of only 9 duo teams to qualify for all three FNCS European Majors tournaments this year. He has also excelled across 'zero-build' tournaments, taking second place in 'DreamHack Dallas' in July.
Guild's new roster represents a shift in focus for Guild towards targeting up-and-coming and developing talent via scouting and data analysis tools. The new players will replace Anas and Hen, who will leave the Company following the conclusion of the FNCS season. Hen will leave on 21 October 2023 and Anas on 25 October 2023.
Jasmine Skee, CEO of Guild Esports, commented: "Guild's Fortnite team is an important jewel in our crown, and I'm delighted to strengthen our long-term position in the iconic esport by signing young three players who have already achieved remarkable success. Blacha, Chico and PabloWingu are some of the most promising players in professional Fortnite, and it is a testament to the quality of our coaching and facilities that they have chosen Guild as the location to take their professional careers to the next level.
"Guild and our academy system will support them to win tournaments and succeed at the highest level. With their addition, we're not just signing players; we're investing in the next generation of Champions."
