Announcement to the Stock Exchange


GMIT SECURITIES PLC


GMIT Securities PLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gartmore Monthly Income
Trust PLC, which is managed by Gartmore Investment Limited.

GMIT Securities PLC has today bought-in for cancellation 200,000 Zero Dividend
Preference shares (Sedol 0560377) at a price of 97p per share.

GMIT Securities PLC repurchased the shares pursuant to an authority given by
Ordinary shareholders at an Extraordinary General Meeting on 7th November
2001.

The transaction will reduce the number of Zero Dividend Preference shares in
issue to 104,223,106.
