Gulfsands  Petroleum  plc  ("the  Company")  or  ("Gulfsands")  today
announces  that Andrew Rose, who is  to be appointed to the Board  of
Gulfsands as Chief Financial Officer  on 1st June 2008, has  informed
the Company that he has today  purchased 44,243 shares at an  average
price of 188.56p bringing his total holding of shares in Gulfsands to
50,000 shares.
