On 30 May 2002 GUS plc received notification of the following purchases on that
day by directors of Ordinary shares of 25p each in this Company at a price of 
658.4635 pence per share:

a)  Sir Victor Blank - 80,000 shares.  Following this purchase, Sir Victor has 
    interests in 183,000 shares in the Company.

b)  John Peace - 10,000 shares.  Following this purchase, Mr Peace holds 40,000
    shares in the Company.

c)  Terry Duddy - 15,000 shares.  Following this purchase, Mr Duddy holds 17,500
    shares in the Company.
