The Great Universal Stores PLC has received notification that Mr J P Charkham (a
director of the Company) has today purchased 3,000 Ordinary shares of 25p each
in the Company at a price of £3.645 per share.  Following this purchase, Mr
Charkam now holds 8,000 shares in the Company.
