2004, from Barclays PLC, pursuant to Sections 198 to 208 of the Companies Act 
1985, advising that, as at 4 February 2004, Barclays PLC, through fourteen legal 
entities named in the notification, now has a notifiable interest in 39,743,229 
ordinary shares in GUS. This holding represents 3.92% of the issued ordinary 
share capital of GUS.
