                          Response to OFT allegations


Argos said today that it will vigorously defend its position against claims made
by the Office of Fair Trading in respect of an infringement of the Competition
Act 1998.

Argos' lawyers will now be looking at the evidence which the OFT has gathered
and will respond to the allegations in due course.
