P.M. Harris to Retire on 29 March 2000

On 13 January 2000, The Great Universal Stores PLC announced that Mr P.M. Harris
was to retire from the Board of the Company in March 2000.  Further to that
announcement it is now confirmed that Mr Harris will retire on 29 March 2000.
