Halfords Group plc Board Appointments and Trading Update
Halfords Group plc has today announced the appointment of Nick Wharton as
Finance Director of the Company with effect from 3 February 2007.
Nick Wharton, age 40, is currently Business Development & Human Resources
Director of Halfords Limited and has been a key part of the management team that
has steered the Company from private to public ownership in recent years. He
will retain responsibility for international development.
Paul McClenaghan, age 41, Trading Director of Halfords Limited, is also
appointed to the Board from the start of the Company's new financial year, 31
March 2007. This appointment reflects his wider responsibilities within the
Group, including the delivery of Halfords' multi-channel strategy and the
Company's service proposition.
The Company confirms there are no matters relating to these appointments
requiring disclosure in relation to paragraph 9.16.13 (2) to (6) of the Listing
Rules.
Nick Carter, the current Finance Director, has resigned from the Company to take
up another appointment and will leave on 2 February 2007. The Company would like
to thank Nick for his valuable contribution since his appointment in 2003.
Trading since 23 November 2006, when the Company announced its interim results
for the current financial year, has remained in line with market expectations.
Halfords intends updating investors next on 29 March 2007 with a pre-close
trading statement for the current financial year.

Nick Wharton
Nick joined Halfords as Finance and Planning Director in March 2002 combining
day-to-day management of the finance and property functions with driving the
separation of Halfords from its former owner, the Boots Company. Prior to this
he held senior finance positions with Boots Opticians, Boots Healthcare
International, Do-it-All Limited and also within Cadbury Schweppes. He is a
qualified chartered accountant.
Paul McClenaghan
Paul McClenaghan joined Halfords in May 2005 as Trading Director and has
successfully driven the Company's trading strategy, particularly with sales of
in-car technology products and the development of direct Far East sourcing
through Halfords Asia. He was previously Trading Director for Vision and Audio
at DSG (previously Dixons Group), with responsibility for buying across the
group. From 1998 to 2000 he worked in Hong Kong as Commercial Director of Dixons
Asia. He joined Dixons in 1987 and held senior buying roles within consumer
electronics including TV, Home Audio and Imaging.
