                   HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES


Halfords Group PLC announces that on 18 August 2006 it purchased for
cancellation 40,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 317p per ordinary
share.

Following the above purchase, the Company have now bought back 3,745,666 shares
for cancellation, since the 8 June when the buy back programme commenced.
