                   HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES


Halfords Group PLC announces that on 12 September 2006 it purchased for
cancellation 140,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 324.732143p per
ordinary share.

Following the above purchase, the Company have now bought back 4,565,666 shares
for cancellation, since the 8 June when the buy back programme commenced.
