Halma PLC 18 April 2006 HALMA EXPANDS ITS PHOTONICS BUSINESS Halma, the leading safety, health and sensor technology group, announces that on 13 April 2006 it completed the purchase of the whole of the issued share capital of Mikropack GmbH Aufbautechnik in der Sensorik ('Mikropack') from Gerald Nitsch, Dieter Steck and Photonics Investments B.V. Mikropack, based in Stuttgart, Germany is a leading manufacturer of innovative, high quality light sources and photonic accessories which are essential components for analytical spectroscopic systems. This acquisition will enhance Halma's world-leading photonic businesses and will play an important role in our future optical sensor developments. The consideration is €2,250,000 payable in cash on completion plus an additional consideration of up to € 2,250,000 based on earnings from 1 January 2005 to 1 April 2006 and 2 April 2006 to 31 March 2007.
