Directorate Change

Halma PLC 09 May 2003 HALMA p.l.c. APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Halma, the leading safety and environmental technology group, announces the appointment of Andrew Walker as a non-executive Director with effect from 8 May 2003. Halma began the search for a new non-executive Director last year, following the retirement of a member of its Board. Andrew Walker, 51, was formerly Chief Executive of McKechnie plc, the broadly based conglomerate which was restructured under his leadership into a specialist engineering business. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive of the newly privatised South Wales Electricity, where he successfully introduced private sector operating practices and led the group's diversification away from regulated businesses. Andrew Walker has substantial experience in the engineering and electronics sectors, having spent 14 years with Dowty Group plc, ultimately running the group's polymer engineering division. David Barber, Chairman of Halma p.l.c., commented on the appointment: 'Andrew is a seasoned engineer with a distinguished track record at boardroom level, both as an executive and non-executive director. He also brings a wealth of experience of working in regulatory environments, which is highly relevant to Halma's businesses. We warmly welcome him to our Board.' Andrew Walker holds non-executive positions with Ultra Electronic Holdings plc, Bioganix Ltd and Galileo Innovations plc. There are no further details to disclose under paragraph 2.F.2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules. For further information, please contact: Stephen O'Shea, Chief Executive +44 (0)1494 721111 Halma p.l.c.
