Mr Bywater sold the resultant shares referred to in the announcement was 28 May
2002, and not 28 April 2002 as stated. All other details remain unchanged and
the full amended text appears below:

Mr J A Bywater, a director of Hammerson plc, exercised options on 28 May 2002
over:

  • 73,878 ordinary 25p shares at 379p per share.

Mr Bywater then sold the resultant shares at 643p per share on 28 May 2002.

Following this exercise, Mr Bywater holds options over a further 47,962 ordinary
25p shares.
