Hammerson plc - Appointment of Non Executive Directors


Hammerson plc announces the appointment of John Hirst as a non-executive
director of the Company with effect from 1 March 2004. John Hirst is Group Chief
Executive of Premier Farnell plc, a position he has held for five years.

Aged 51, Mr Hirst read Economics at Leeds University and subsequently trained as
a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse. He worked for Imperial Chemical
Industries PLC for 19 years holding several senior appointments, most recently
as Chief Executive, ICI Performance Chemicals and Group Treasurer. His extensive
international experience has included assignments in both France and Portugal.

The appointment is also announced today of John Nelson as a non-executive
Director with effect from 1 May 2004. John Nelson is Deputy Chairman of
Kingfisher plc and a non-executive director of BT Group plc.

Aged 56, Mr Nelson is a Chartered Accountant. He retired as Chairman of Credit
Suisse First Boston (Europe) in 2002. Prior to that he spent 13 years at Lazard
Brothers where he was Vice Chairman, with overall responsibility for the
Corporate Finance Division. He was also Chairman of Lazard SpA in Italy and a
partner in Lazard Freres in New York. Earlier in his career he spent 15 years at
Kleinwort Benson. Mr Nelson is also a Director of the English National Opera.
