Retirement of Simon Melliss, to be succeeded as Chief Financial Officer

The Board of Hammerson plc announces that Simon Melliss, Chief Financial Officer ("CFO"), will retire on 30 June 2011. Simon will be 59 in July this year, and has been with Hammerson since 1991. He was appointed CFO in 1995.

 

Timon Drakesmith, currently Finance Director of Great Portland Estates plc, has been appointed as CFO of Hammerson with effect from the end of May 2011.

 

John Nelson, Chairman of Hammerson, said:

 

"I would like to thank Simon for his enormous contribution to Hammerson over the last 20 years. He has played a central role as a Board member and as part of the senior management team. Simon is one of the longest serving Finance Directors in the FTSE; a reflection of his dedication and ability. We wish him all the best for the future. I am delighted to welcome Timon Drakesmith as his successor."

There are no other matters requiring disclosure under Listing Rule 9.6.13 in respect of this appointment.

Notes

 

1.   After graduating from Bristol University in 1986 Timon joined Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, and after qualifying as a chartered accountant subsequently moved to BZW in 1990 where he worked as a director in the corporate finance division. He stayed with BZW through the acquisition by CSFB and as a Managing Director in investment banking was the founder of the European sellside M&A group. In 2003 he joined Novar PLC as Finance Director of the Electrical Accessories division, and rose to the position of Group Director of Financial Operations.

 

In 2005 Timon was appointed as Finance Director for Great Portland Estates. In this capacity he was responsible for managing the capital base, refinancing, taxation, financial reporting, investor relations and operational finance. He is 45, married with three children and lives in South London.

 

2.   Simon Melliss remains a non-executive Director of Whitbread PLC and a member of the Committee of Management at Hermes Property Unit Trust (HPUT).
