Appointment of Gwyn Burr as Non-Executive Director

Hammerson plc announces the appointment of Gwyn Burr as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect. Gwyn has over 25 years experience in the retail sector, with a particular focus on the delivery of industry-leading customer service and marketing communications.

Gwyn is Customer Service and Colleague Director at J Sainsbury plc, where she has responsibility for Sainsbury's interaction with 22 million customers every week. Gwyn joined  Sainsbury's in 2005, and her responsibilities have included Marketing, Customer Service, Own Brand, Human Resources, Corporate Responsibility, and Corporate Communications.

Her early career was spent at Asda, where she became Marketing Director in 1996, before progressing to roles as Customer Service Director and Financial Services Director. In 2001 she founded Resultant, a retail consultancy specialising in strategy formulation, its internal communication and subsequent execution for large, consumer-facing businesses.

Gwyn is a Non-Executive Director of the Financial Ombudsman Service and Wembley Stadium. She is a board member of Sainsbury's Bank plc, where she chairs the nominations committee and sits on the remuneration committee. She is the Chair of Business in the Community (BITC) Community Investment Board and was formerly a Non-Executive Director at the Principality Building Society.
