Additional information:	2175972 Ontario Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board ('OTPPB') OTPPB has agreed to terminate an economic interest that it holds through cash settled contracts for differences (with no voting rights) ('Cash Settled Swap') in a total of 48,600,000 ordinary shares in Hammerson plc representing 6.986% of the ordinary shares in Hammerson plc. The termination of the Cash Settled Swap was agreed to on 27 March 2009 for settlement on 1 April 2009.  2175970 Ontario Inc., another wholly owned subsidiary of OTPPB, already holds 32,193,511 ordinary shares of Hammerson Plc representing 4.628% of the ordinary shares in Hammerson plc.  Thus the aggregate holdings of ordinary shares in Hammerson plc of subsidiaries of OTPPB is 80,793,511 shares representing 11.614% of its issued share capital.
