Retail Site Visit for Investors and Analysts
Hammerson is today hosting an analyst site visit to its UK retail assets in Reading, Didcot and Gloucester.
The event will commence with Lawrence Hutchings, Managing Director UK Retail, giving an overview of the structural changes currently impacting retail and the Company's operational and strategic responses. Andrew Berger-North, Director Retail Parks, will then provide further insight into the retail parks market and opportunities for value creation within Hammerson's retail parks portfolio.
The tour will include a visit to: The Oracle, Reading, to see examples of recent asset management initiatives; The Orchard Centre, Didcot, which provides a significant development opportunity within the UK retail portfolio; and St. Oswald's Retail Park, Gloucester, where Hammerson has regenerated the 55 acre former cattle market into a thriving retail and leisure destination.
Lawrence Hutchings, Managing Director UK Retail said:
"We are witnessing a number of trends in retail which play to the strengths of our portfolio and our management expertise. Consumers are increasingly polarising in their requirements for either a full leisure experience or a simple, convenient transaction. Retailers are consequently focusing on both regionally dominant centres offering retail, catering, and leisure, and our accessible, well-located retail parks. The combination of high quality assets and retailer-focused asset management has allowed us to maintain consistent strong demand for space within our portfolio."
Andrew Berger-North, Director Retail Parks said:
"Hammerson has 21 retail parks valued at over £1 billion, representing some 20% of the group portfolio. With affordability for retailers and ease of access for consumers, retail parks represent a natural area of expansion for successful retailers and caterers, and we have a number of extension and asset management plans to create further value from our retail parks portfolio."
No material new information will be disclosed in the presentations which will form part of this visit, nor will there be any further statement on current trading. Copies of all presentations will be made available on Hammerson's website www.hammerson.com.
