Transaction in own shares

The Company purchased 400,000 ordinary shares at a price of 420.69 pence per share through Deutsche Bank AG on 28 October 2010.

The shares purchased will all be held as treasury shares pending their transfer to the Company's Employee Benefit Trust.  Following the purchase of these shares Hammerson plc holds 400,000 ordinary shares in treasury, and Hammerson plc's issued share capital consists of 707,178,856 ordinary shares with voting rights (excluding treasury shares).

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Hammerson plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
