Transaction in own shares



The Company purchased 500,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 1124.50
pence per share through Citigroup Global Markets Limited on 25 September 2007.
The highest price paid was 1128 pence per share and the lowest price paid was
1121 pence per share.



The shares purchased will all be held as treasury shares. Hammerson plc ('
Hammerson') currently holds 1,450,000 ordinary shares in treasury and, following
the purchase of these shares, Hammerson's share capital consists of 289,125,217
ordinary shares with voting rights (excluding treasury shares).



The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the
calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their
interest in, or a change to their interest in, Hammerson under the FSA's
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
