AGM Statement

Holidaybreak PLC 15 February 2001 15 February 2001 HOLIDAYBREAK PLC 2001 AGM STATEMENT 2000 was another excellent year for Holidaybreak. We continued our consistent record of healthy earnings growth and also broadened the scope of our activities with several successful acquisitions. In 2001 these acquisitions will make a significant contribution to the overall performance of the Group in what we anticipate will be another year of substantial progress. At present, each of our three trading divisions is showing healthy year on year growth and there is every prospect that the positive trends will continue. Holidaybreak has a business profile which enables it to benefit from large market shares of its niche markets - low risk but with good, reliable growth opportunities. Current trading reflects this profile. CAMPING Bookings for camping and mobile-home holidays have continued to come in well, in each of the major markets, Holland, Germany and the UK. Like for like sales are 5% up on 2000 equivalents with more profitable mobile-homes showing strong year on year growth. Our main camping brands, Eurocamp and Keycamp, achieved very creditable ratings in the recently published Holiday Which? survey of UK tour operators and both have been featured on the BBC Holiday programme during January. Currency fluctuations will not affect the outcome for the year as all our exposures have been covered through forward contracts. ADVENTURE HOLIDAYS Sales in our recently acquired adventure businesses, Explore Worldwide and Regal Holidays, have maintained their momentum since the New Year. Overall bookings are 14% up on 2000 equivalents. We feel that this is a particularly creditable achievement in view of the changes that both businesses have undergone over the past twelve months. One of the most important has been the appointment of Simon Tobin as the new Managing Director of the Adventure Division, following his move from Keycamp earlier this year. Both Explore and Regal have recently received well deserved consumer accolades. Explore was rated fourth in the Holiday Which? survey, referred to previously, and Regal has been voted 'Best Dive Operator' for the fourth year in succession by the readers of Diver Magazine. HOTEL BREAKS Another strong performance from Superbreak and the other brands that make up our Hotel Breaks division has been particularly encouraging in view of the rail and weather disruption during the winter months. Year on year revenues are 23% ahead and our advance booking figures indicate that the positive momentum is continuing. The acquisition of Rainbow in September 2000 has proved very beneficial and internet sales continue to grow extremely rapidly. Bookings from overseas markets are also now beginning to make a useful contribution. PROSPECTS All our businesses are trading well, with last year's acquisitions now fully integrated within the Group. We also have the finance and management resources to grow further through acquisition, as and when the opportunities arise. I look forward, at the year end, to reporting on the achievement of further solid growth in profits and dividends. Angus Crichton-Miller Chairman
