             ALTERATION OF PRELIMINARY RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT DATE

RJB Mining PLC announces that its preliminary results will now be on
Wednesday 5 April 2000, not Thursday 2 March 2000 as previously stated.

The decision to postpone the announcement of the results has been made in
light of the continuing uncertainty within the UK coal industry as to
whether the Government will support the payment of operating aid enjoyed by
the other European coal producing states.  This issue will have a material
impact on the future shape and direction of the business.
