UK Coal Plc (the Company) has received notification that the claimant whose
claim is referred to in Note 31 to the Company's accounts for the year ended 31
December 2005 which was due to be heard in the High Court on 3 July 2006 has
agreed to discontinue his claim with no payment made by the Company.
