RJB MINING PLC 23 August 1999 RJB Mining PLC - Board Changes RJB Mining PLC announces the appointment of Mr Brian Staples as a Non- Executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 September 1999. Mr Staples will replace Sir Ross Buckland, who will step down as non-Executive Director at the end of September. Mr Staples has been Chief Executive of Amey Group since 1997. His previous positions have included Chief Executive roles at United Utilities, North West Water and Tarmac Construction Ltd. Mr Staples will assume the Chairmanship of the Remuneration Committee when Sir Ross leaves. In addition, George Jarrett, Managing Director of the Plant and Mining Services Division and a Main Board Director, has advised the Board of his intention to retire as a Director at the end of August 1999, after 33 years with the Company and on reaching the age of 65 years. Responsibility for the Plant Division will be shared between the other operational directors and the divisional management team that Mr Jarrett has established over many years. 'We also wish George a long and happy retirement after his many years of dedicated service to the Group. He has been a considerable asset to the Company and his presence on the Board will be missed. I am delighted, however, to report that George has agreed to act as a consultant to the Group for the next year, to assist in the transferral of duties for the operations under his responsibility.'
