TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS

In accordance with Disclosure and Transparency Rule 5.6.1, UK Coal plc ('the Company') would like to notify the market of the following:

The Company's issued share capital now consists of 157,252,747 ordinary shares of 1p each with voting rights. None of these ordinary shares are held in Treasury. Therefore, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 157,252,747. 

The above figure (157,252,747) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
