Coal Plc would like to notify the market of the following:



At the date of this announcement UK Coal Plc's capital consists of 156,651,482
ordinary 1p shares with voting rights. The Company does not hold any shares in
Treasury.



The above figure (156,651,482) may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculation by which they determine if they are required to notify their
interest in, or a change to their interest in, UK Coal Plc under the FSA's
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
