Cancellation Of Treasury Shares



In accordance with the provisions of LR 12.6.4 the Board of Hays plc advises
that on 7 October 2005 it cancelled 86,794,556 Ordinary shares currently held in
Treasury.


Following the cancellation Hays plc holds 83,609,612 Ordinary shares in Treasury
and has 1,565,486,954 Ordinary shares in issue (excluding Treasury shares).
