Appointment of non-executive Director



Headlam, the UK's leading floorcoverings distributor, today announces that it
has appointed Roger Dickens as a non-executive director. He will join the
Headlam board with effect from 6 February 2004 at which time he will also be
appointed to the Nominations, Audit and Remuneration Committees.



Roger, aged 56, has been the non-executive Chairman of West Bromwich Building
Society since 1 October 1998. He is also Chairman of ASSA Training and Learning
Limited and a non-executive director of Carillion plc and National Exhibition 
Centre Limited.



On 31 December 2003 Roger stepped down as Executive Chairman and resigned from
the board of iSOFT Group plc following its merger with Torex plc.  Up until 1998
Roger was the deputy UK Senior Partner and Senior Partner Midlands Region for
KPMG.



No information is required to be disclosed under paragraphs 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of
the Listing Rules.



Commenting on the appointment, Headlam Chairman, Trevor Larman, said:
