Headlam Group plc ('Headlam')

Appointment of non-executive Director

Headlam, Europe's leading floorcoverings distributor, today announces that it
has appointed Mike O'Leary as a non-executive director. He will join the Headlam
board with effect from 10 March 2006 at which time he will also be appointed to
the Nominations, Audit and Remuneration Committees.

Mike is 53 and has an honours degree in Chemistry from Birmingham University.
His early career was spent in general management in manufacturing. He joined
Misys in 1986 and helped to float that company and grow it substantially over a
fourteen year period. More recently, he has served as Chief Executive Officer at
both Marlborough Stirling plc and West Bromwich Albion plc.

No other information is required to be disclosed under paragraphs 9.6.13 of the
Listing Rules.

Commenting on the appointment, Headlam Chairman, Trevor Larman, said:

'We are delighted to welcome Mike O'Leary to the board as a non-executive
director and believe that his business knowledge and management expertise will
be a positive contribution as the group continues to develop.'
