World leading connectivity and retail on offer at the UK's hub airport
· With almost 7.3m passengers travelling through Heathrow in September, it was the busiest start to Autumn the airport has ever experienced. While September 2023 was the first time in the airport's history to surpass 7 million passengers, 2024 has topped this by over 200k
· Heathrow also provided assistance to over 210,000 passengers in September, our busiest month ever for the service. Assistance services are a core part of our passenger proposition to ensure everyone who needs support has a smooth journey through Heathrow, whether they are avid travellers or first time flyers
· September rounded off the record summer, with over 30m passengers travelling for a break in the sun during June to September.
· With back-to-school season in full swing, the busiest arrivals day ever was recorded on 2nd September as over 140,500 passengers landed at Heathrow
· Adding more jewels to Heathrow's 'most connected airport in the world' crown, British Airways have announced operations to Georgia's capital Tbilisi will resume in Summer 2025 after more than a decade's hiatus. Bolstering Heathrow's already impressive transatlantic offer, BA will be operating more than 400 direct flights a week to North America next summer across 26 cities, from the 'true north' of Calgary to cowboy country in Dallas
· We are thrilled Heathrow has been named best UK airport in the Conde Nast 2024 Readers' Choice Award, an accolade voted on by thousands of seasoned British travellers, while the airport's premier retail offering was awarded best in class at the Frontier Awards
Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye said:
"We are closing out our super summer on a high, with over 30 million passengers passing through Heathrow's doors in the last 4 months. Being named the most connected airport and best airport for retail in the world is testament to the strong relationship we have cultivated with our airlines and retailers."
