HELICAL BAR PLC ('Helical Bar' or 'the Company')


On 12 December 2003, Mr Michael Slade, a Director, exercised a subscription
option over 140,378 new ordinary 5p shares at 452.5p per share.  This option was
exercised in accordance with the rules of the Senior Executive 1988 Share Option
Scheme.


Following this exercise the Company has 27,857,903 ordinary 5p shares in issue.


The Company was advised on the 12 December 2003 that on that date Mr Michael
Slade sold in the market, 140,378 ordinary 5p shares in the Company at 765p per
share.  Mr Michael Slade continues to hold 3,016,575 (10.83%) ordinary shares in
the company and has options over 1,307,622 ordinary shares.
