                         NOTIFICATION OF SHARE PURCHASE

                HELICAL BAR PLC ('Helical Bar 'or 'the Company')


The Company was informed today that the following transactions had taken place:
     
1.   Helical Bar plc Employee Share Ownership Plan Trust ('ESOP')

On 24 December 2007 the Company's ESOP purchased 158,768 ordinary 1p shares in
the company at 298.9765p per share. Following this purchase the ESOP holds
3,929,636 (4.1%) ordinary 1p shares in the company.
