Henderson High Income - Annual Overview from QuotedData
18th September 2024
London's finally calling
Henderson High Income (HHI) may represent one of the better opportunities for income investors to capitalise on the resurgence of the UK market. Thanks, in part, to its historically wide 8.7% share price discount to net asset value (NAV) and enticing 6.3% dividend yield, but also given that its long-term NAV returns have outperformed not only the broader UK market but also both its closed- and open-ended peers.
The resurgence of the UK market can be attributed to several factors. For one, the UK continues to offer investors not only the most attractive valuations in the developed world, but also one of the highest dividend yields. This comes in conjunction with a new Labour government in the UK, which is likely to be more stable than the previous administration, and follows the first interest rate cut by the Bank of England since COVID-19, marking a clear shift towards a more accommodative interest rate policy. The result is that the UK has removed two oft-cited excuses for avoiding its equity market and could help to attract back investors who have previously been avoiding the region.
