Appointment of a new Director

The Henderson Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc ('the Company') announces that Mr David Lamb will be appointed a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 August 2013. 

David joined St. James's Place (SJP) Plc in 1992 and was appointed to the Board in 2007.  David is Managing Director with responsibility for Product Development, Operations, including Client Services, Marketing, Business Development and the Group's fund range.  He is a member of the Investment Committee and a Trustee of the St. James's Place Foundation.  With over 30 years' experience in the industry, David has a detailed knowledge of the UK financial services market, including pensions, investments and tax planning. David is also a Director of the Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers (APCIMS) and a member of the Council for the CBI (South West).  He is a graduate of City University, London and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. Prior to joining SJP, David spent most of his career as a member of the investment team at Friends Life (then Friends Provident).

There is no further information to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in respect of Mr Lamb.
