Proposed modifications to the investment policy

Further to the Chairman's Statement in the Annual Financial Report for the year ended 31 May 2008, announced on 13 August 2008, the Company and its advisers have held discussions with major shareholders regarding the proposed modifications to the Company's investment policy which would, inter alia, allow the Manager to invest in short positions.  As a result of these discussions, the Board has decided that it would not be appropriate to seek to modify the investment policy at this time. Accordingly, the Board intends to withdraw resolutions 10 and 12 as set out in the notice of the Annual General Meeting to be held on Friday 26 September 2008. 

The Board has also decided that the performance fee arrangements between the Company and the Manager should be maintained in their current form; the proposed changes discussed in the Chairman's Statement will therefore not be implemented.
