                         TRANSACTION IN OWN SECURITIES

On 24 August 2007, the Company purchased into treasury 98,000 Sterling Shares at
a price of 100.25 pence per share (the 'Transaction').

Following the Transaction, there are now in issue (to the exclusion of those
held in treasury) 135,085,599 Sterling Shares, 5,676,877 Euro
Shares and 9,632,602 US$ Shares.  The total number of shares held in treasury
are 198,000 Sterling Shares, zero Euro Shares and zero US$ Shares.
