On 11 September 2006, Hiscox plc allotted 444 ordinary shares of 5p each at an
exercise price of £1.5759 under the Hiscox Sharesave Scheme, 761 ordinary shares
of 5p each at an exercise price of £1.5759 under the Hiscox International
Sharesave Scheme, and 20,610 ordinary shares of 5p each at an exercise price of
£1.465 under the Hiscox Unapproved Share Option Scheme.

These shares will rank pari passu with the existing class of ordinary 5p shares
in issue.

The issued share capital of Hiscox plc is now 393,050,524 ordinary shares of 5p
each.
