The board of Hiscox plc advises that on Wednesday, 17 September 2003 it allotted
a total of 275,371 shares of 5p each at an exercise price of 88.1p under the
Sharesave Scheme.


These shares will rank pari passu with the existing class of ordinary 5p shares
in issue.
