On 5 January 2007 Hiscox Ltd allotted the following shares under the Hiscox
Unapproved Share Option Scheme ('Unapproved'), the Hiscox Approved Share Option
Scheme ('Approved') and the Hiscox UK ShareSave Scheme ('ShareSave').

On 10 January 2007 Hiscox Ltd allotted 15,246 shares at an exercise price of
£1.02 each under the Approved scheme.

Each of these shares will rank pari passu with the existing class of ordinary 5p
shares in issue.

In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6 we
would like to notify the market of the following:

Hiscox Ltd's capital consists of 394,168,908 ordinary shares with voting rights.

Hiscox Ltd holds no shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Hiscox Ltd is 394,168,908.

The above figure (394,168,908) may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Hiscox Ltd under the FSA's
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
