Hornby Plc - Margate Planning Application rejected
Hornby Plc (Hornby) announces that it has received notification that the
application to redevelop its Margate factory site for retail use has been
rejected. Therefore the conditional sale agreement now lapses. The initial
application to Thanet District Council was approved in 2001, but was called in
for Ministerial review. An Inquiry by the Planning Inspectorate took place in
January 2003.
Frank Martin, the Hornby Chief Executive said:
' It is disappointing that it has taken so long for our application to be
processed. However, in the intervening period, our business has gone from
strength to strength. Therefore, whereas at the outset the sale of the Margate
site may have represented a boost to our business, it is no longer so
important.'
'We will continue to operate satisfactorily from our existing premises, whilst
reviewing all real estate options.'
