Changes in executive responsibilities of MFI Board members
Following an internal review of its businesses and management structure, MFI
Furniture Group Plc announces changes in responsibilities for certain of its
executive Board members.
The organisation will now be aligned along product categories and routes to
market, as distinct from functions, in order to better position the company to
execute its strategy. The new organisational structure - which has been made
possible by the investment in IT systems - allows us to ensure we are
continually offering our customers inspiring and affordable products.
With immediate effect, Gordon MacDonald - Group Categories and Manufacturing
Director - will take overall responsibility for each of the product categories.
The Kitchen category has particular importance to the Group as a whole, and
therefore Bob Wilson will take on the role of Kitchens Category Director.
In addition, Mark Horgan - Retail Executive Director - will be specifically
focused on our commercial strategy, trading, marketing and financial services.
Mark will also take over responsibility for our retail businesses in France and
Taiwan. In the UK we have created a new role - Retail Operations Director - that
will have specific focus on our out-of-town stores. Steve Walker, who joined MFI
in 2001 and has over 30 years operational experience in both the UK and
internationally, has been appointed to this position. Steve will continue to sit
on the Executive Committee and report directly to John Hancock.
The responsibilities of all the other Board members remain largely unchanged.
