HOWDEN JOINERY GROUP PLC (the "Company")

Notification of transaction in shares by Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibilities ("PDMRs")

The Company has been notified that Mark Robson, CFO and a PDMR of the Company, today purchased 5,381 ordinary shares in the Company through the London Stock Exchange at an average price of 128.9p.  The shares were purchased pursuant to a trading plan entered into in August 2001, prior to Mr Robson joining the Company.

Following the transaction Mr Robson holds 1,415,265 ordinary shares (c. 0.22% of the issued share capital).

This announcement is made pursuant to Disclosure and Transparency Rule 3.1.4R (1)(a) and paragraph 26 of the Model Code.
